As the exclusive UK agent for WARDJet , Wightman Stewart is experiencing great interest in customised waterjet cutting systems. For WARDJet, the manufacture of customised tables – in addition to the standard range of machines – represents a large part of the company’s worldwide business. They are therefore well placed to meet the demands of the UK and Ireland markets for specific designs and configurations. Typical customised waterjet tables are built in response to a demand for special materials handling requirements, the need to integrate customer software to allow easier access to information, or indeed the wish to perform other machining operations alongside waterjet cutting. One of the latest developments is a customised JX-7032 pure water waterjet cutting table which has a 7.0 m x 3.2 m cutting envelope and four independent cutting heads (www.wardjet.com/custom-waterjets.html). It also features an integrated shuttle table handling system with two 7.0m shuttle tables at both the front and rear of the machine. The cutting table has an unlimited number of configurations based on the sheet width variation. This allows the user to easily manoeuvre the materials into any position. For continuous, high speed cutting at up to fifty inches per second, four cutting heads are included that can be positioned anywhere along the cutting gantry.
Other recently developed customised waterjet solutions include self loading tables; the retrofit of plasma cutters alongside waterjet cutting heads, 4th axis rotary chuck for specialist tubing and additional drilling, tapping heads and height sensor.
